HANNEKE BARENDREGT

Visual Artist in Graphics, Wood and Glass

In 2006 Hanneke Barendregt graduated from the St Joost Academy in Breda in Graphics. Working as an artist, she wants the viewer to experience the beauty of emptiness in a newly created reality. She draws her inspiration from the metaphysical paintings of Georgio Di Chirico.

Over the years, her work has been evaluated from work on the wall to spatial work. In addition to graphics, the use of wood and glass has also been added. Her roots in Architecture can be found more and more in her latest works.

In addition to her graphic work, Hanneke first became acquainted with casting glass in 2012, a process with fixed shapes in glass. This is done by means of wax molds and plaster molds in which glass is fused in the oven. A more direct process is casting glass in sand. Wooden molds are made in advance, which are then pressed into a sand bed. Hot glass is then immediately poured into it, after which the glass mold enters the cooling oven. Making the wooden molds eventually became a goal in itself for Hanneke. The constructive character appealed to her more and more. And so small and larger Book Houses of wood were created, with which she sought to reconnect with her graphic work. So the circle is complete again!
